By using a unique data set, Linus Siming studies how social networks formed by former employment relationships affect private equity firms’ choice of financial adviser. This paper provides new evidence on how deals are sourced by PE firms and is the first paper to detail how PE firms choose their financial advisers. It is also the first paper to look at the importance of having former employees as clients and the benefits of these arrangements.
